The 2021 Terri Lynne Lokoff Teacher Awards
We are happy to announce some very exciting news! The Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation (TLLCCF) has merged with First Up. Many of you in Early Childhood Education are already familiar with the foundation and our premier event the National Child Care Teacher Awards – which has honored exceptional child care professionals for the past 31 years.
In 1987 Kay and Fred Lokoff formed the Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation to honor the memory of their daughter. Terri was a passionate child care teacher who knew the incredible value of Early Childhood Education and was committed to making a difference by giving children a strong start in their lives.
This new partnership will ensure the continuation of two of TLLCCF’s signature programs, the Teacher Awards in honor of Terri and Kay, and Museums to Go in honor of Lois Cohan. The potential for continued growth and expansion feels almost limitless.
We are also thrilled to share with you the 2021 application for the Terri Lynne Lokoff Teacher Awards. Fifty awards are presented each year. Every award recipient receives a $1000 cash prize, a trip to Philadelphia for the award ceremony (Covid permitting), and a chance to win the Helene Marks Award with the additional honor of being named the National Child Care Teacher of the Year. If you know a child care teacher, or are yourself a child care teacher who embodies these ideals, please review the application and consider applying.
This partnership is the next step in TLLCCF’s incredible journey of commitment to raise awareness for the need of quality, affordable child care and to elevate the status of all child care teachers in our society. We look forward to all that lies ahead.
