First Up’s Family Childcare Conference and Virtual Institutes

The First Up Conference is a special gathering held each Spring on the beautiful campus of the University of Pennsylvania. It typically brings together educators and professionals from across the region for a full day of networking and professional development.

Due to current concerns, First Up has made the decision to move this beloved event to a virtual platform for 2020-2021. We will be offering multiple half-day virtual institutes on a range of topics over the course of the year. Please contact Rebecca Tyrrell for additional information.

Institute dates and topics:

  • Saturday, September 26, 9:00am-1:30pm – Family Childcare Conference
  • Saturday, October 3, 9:00am-1:30pm – Personal Empowerment for the ECE Professional
  • Tuesday, November 3, 12:00pm-4:30pm – Male Engagement in ECE

Registration today for the first two institutes on our Institute Webpage!

Donors like you are absolutely essential to this work — we simply couldn’t do it without you!

Guided by more than 50 years of on-the-ground experience, First Up’s best-in-class training, effective advocacy, and accessible technical assistance give educators and advocates the specialized tools they need to transform lives.

Our new name, First Up, confidently embodies our core commitment to early educators. It asserts that those first relationships that children develop with family, caregivers, and early childhood professionals are crucial in creating a path forward to success.

By moving away from our former membership-based model, we are moving towards being true to our practice and longstanding commitment to serve the whole region – regardless of membership status.

While our name may have changed over the years, we remain dedicated to our mission of ensuring educational opportunity for every child in our community.
